The Sky Factory was recently featured as the Wall Street Journal’s Workplace of the Day. Entitled Bringing Mother Nature Indoors, the online slideshow presents views of Sky Factory life, past and present, and interview quotes from founder Bill Witherspoon about all aspects of the workplace from the energy-efficient building to our unique corporate culture.

The company’s innovative Illusions of Nature^™ products are showcased, as well as the fact that Sky Factory products are all designed and produced in-house, assuring a superbly integrated and effective blend of art and technology.

The Sky Factory will make its annual pilgrimage to the national gathering of architectural professionals, the AIA 2011 National Convention and Design Exposition, being held in New Orleans this year at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from May 12-14. Sky Factory will be among 800 exhibitors displaying the latest concepts and technologies for the built environment at this major architectural event.

The AIA promises something a little different this year, an event organized around the theme of “Regional Design REVOLUTION: ecology matters”. The AIA is a leader in promoting sustainable practices and innovations for the built environment, and this year’s conference promises to be an interesting event.

A Notable Installation: Regional Council of Bordeaux

Sky Factory France continues to score with impressive Luminous SkyCeiling^™ installations featuring a split array of several SkyCeilings mounted into deep-coffered enclosures. In the meeting room of the Regional Council of Bordeaux building, this arrangement creates a dramatic, biophilically beneficial, presence of realistic sky and daylight in the enclosed space where regional officials meet.
