Publications Highlight Illusions of Nature
“Illusions of nature,” a phrase that wouldn't return much in a Google search a few years ago, is becoming an idea whose time has come in the architecture world. Architectural Products current issue features Designing With Illusions of Nature. The article provides an introduction to the principles underlying Sky Factory's Illusions of Nature™ — biophilia, the health benefits of nature illusions, elements of realistic sky illusions — and features several real-world examples of successful installations in schools, workplaces, and other interior environments.
In the same issue, the article Sky's the Limit illustrates how illusions of nature improve the patient experience at the newly renovated Sutter Diagnostic and Women's Imaging Center in Roseville, California. This renovation, designed by Boulder Architects, incorporates unique Sky Factory installations in the gowned waiting area, MRI, CT, mammography, and bone density suites to reduce patient anxiety and stress.
The Sutter renovation was also featured in Healthcare Design magazine's spotlight on Women's Hospitals, in the May issue. In the article Imaging Center Embraces Women-Centered Care, the project's principal designers discuss many aspects of the major renovation, including how Sky Factory products helped to create a warm, welcoming space serving the unique needs of women.
